- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆June 01, 2020, by Mara ZemanWorst pharmacy department I've EVER encountered, hands down!! Where do I even BEGIN to document all of the issues I've experienced here?! As a person with MANY chronic health problems, including Type I Diabetes, I take many different regular medications on a daily basis. As such, I tend to put a great deal of trust in the pharmacy I use. As one of only 2 pharmacy options in Wolcott, when I moved here last July I decided to use Rite Aid rather than Wolcott Pharmacy because they have longer hours and are open on Sunday. WRONG DECISION! Dealing with Rite Aid has been nothing but a complete headache from pretty much the very beginning, to wit (all issues mentioned occur REGULARLY): 1) RXs on "auto fill" that don't get filled on time or don't get filled AT ALL, ie I have to call to tell THEM to fill the "auto fill" Rx, which pretty much completely negates the whole purpose of having something on auto fill in the first place! 2) persistent out of stock issues EVERY TIME I refill a MAINTENANCE medication (like INSULIN) that is ALWAYS filled on the exact same set monthly schedule!! Though I am a regular customer, they LITERALLY REFUSE to keep meds in stock they don't normally carry, which necessitates them having to SPECIAL ORDER the SAME MEDICATION over and over again, every time it's refilled! So, every month I either run out of or almost run out of insulin because I have to wait for the item to be ordered and arrive! This is absolutely ridiculous and demonstrates an utter disregard for my health, forget the nightmarish customer service implications! 3) Pharmacists who seemingly don't possess even the most rudimentary customer service skills! They literally NEVER acknowledge a waiting customer, whether a line exists or not (ie "someone will be right with you") and they NEVER, EVER wait on or ring up customers even when the customer volume is far too great for other pharmacy staff to handle! The pharmacists act as though the customers are simply NOT their responsibility (WHAT?!?!), and the consistent message sent is that we simply don't matter enough for them to even look up from what they're doing! They either don't pay attention or they don't wish to. 4) RIDICULOUS waiting times for new RXs to be filled after they are received, even when the store is seemingly totally dead...there is no such thing as "waiting" in the store while they fill something for you that you may need fairly quickly (like if you are ill, coming straight from the doctor, for example). "I'll have it for you in an hour or two"...SERIOUSLY? With all-electronic prescriptions in New York which means they've already had the Rx for AT LEAST 30-40 minutes by the time I get from my doctor to their store?! If I were coming in with the Rx and just handing it to them, this might make sense, as it is, NOPE! I could go ON AND ON, but I think I've made my point. Unless you wish to suffer endless levels of agonized frustration the likes of which will cause you to tear every last hair out of your skull, DO NOT make this your pharmacy of choice, or, in my opinion, you WILL live to regret it. Meanwhile, after being told today that NO Rite Aid store in a 100 mile radius had the type of insulin I use in stock so I could get it TODAY (though I ordered the refill a full 2 days ago...see #2 above...Grrrr), I WILL be permanently switching to Wolcott Pharmacy for all of my future Rx needs (less convenient, shorter hours notwithstanding)!

I have not once in 2 years gone to get my prescription's without having a problem or given a hard time!!!! I really feel like the staff except Hailey and the boy back there - I feel like they are messing with me or laughing at me or something !!! The new one is I just had abdominal surgery and have to wait 2 days to get my refill on pain meds!!!!! REALLY???? Come on now!!!! And told there is nothing they can do for me!!!! I'm sickened by the lack of professionalism and uncompassionate attitides!!!! Disgusts me!!!! I will be contacting the attorney General and telling him about this mess of a pharmacy!!! Not to mention the wait time to get meds that are ready is a huge line waiting time minimum15 minutes up to 30 minutes!!!!
